WASHINGTON (Eagle News) — After a another night of violent protest in Washington DC, crowds gathered again in front of the White House Monday afternoon. As the 7:00 p.m. curfew came about, President Donald Trump made a statement in front of the White house.
Trump slammed protests in Washington in which some properties and monuments have been vandalized. As the president spoke police struggled to disperse crowds.
“What happened in the city last night was a total disgrace,” Trump said. “As we speak I am dispatching thousands and thousands of heavily armed soldiers, military personnel and law enforcement officers to stop the rioting, looting, vandalism, assaults and wanton destruction of property.”
Trump also called on state governors to “dominate the streets” and then announced that he would deploy thousands of ‘heavily armed’ troops in Washington.
