(Eagle News) — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pledged to work with countries that have not approved the AstraZeneca vaccine to reduce barriers faced by some Canadian travelers.

Some large events in the U.S are only admitting people who are fully immunized with vaccines approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

And that creates a problem for Canadians who have received both shots of the AstraZeneca formula.

AstraZeneca was never approved by the FDA.

“This is an issue that has come up that different countries have different approved vaccines,” Trudeau said Friday. ““Other countries that haven’t recognized the full suite of vaccines is an issue we’re going to have to deal with hopefully in the coming weeks.”

Trudeau says his government is talking with U.S. officials and other countries to ensure that people who are protected from Covid-19 are able to travel.
