WASHINGTON, DC (Eagle News) — If you want more than just visiting the museums or seeing other historical landmarks at the nation’s capital on your spring break or family vacation, I got good news for you! There are lots of activities coming up in D.C as spring season is swiftly approaching and here’s the TOP FIVE list that I collated.

5. Passport DC – Interested in exploring different cultures?

Passport DC is an only-in -DC experience where you can get a chance to visit inside a foreign embassy during open houses on the Around the World Embassy Tour (May 2, 2020) and the EU Open House (May 9, 2020). It offers cultural activities, food, dance performances and art. Consider this your chance to stroll around Embassy Row and visit some of the more than 170 embassies based in the nation’s capital.

4. Floral Library- If you love flowers so much especially tulips, here’s the spot for you!

Located at the northeast corner of the Tidal Basin, the Floral Library is consisting mostly of several varieties of colorful tulips but there are also daffodils and other flowers. I love strolling here especially when the tulips bloom and flaunt its wonderful and vibrant colors. It gives off happy vibes!

3. Annual Blossom Kite Festival – Young or Adult, you’re going to love this!

Happening on the 28th day of March this year, thousands of kites take flight during the Annual Blossom Kite Festival. Held on Washington Monument grounds, you would never want to miss this spectacular event! Professionals and beginners alike showcase their skills through competitions and demonstrations. If you want to try it you can bring your own kite or children can make a kite at an activity station. Of course if you did not bring any, kites are available for sale on site.

2. Sakura Matsuri- Want to experience the largest one-day celebration of Japanese culture in the U.S?

Referred to as the grand finale of National Cherry Blossom Festival, Sakura Matsuri is comprised of performers and vendors from all over the world to D.C to share their love of Japanese culture and traditions with the Festival attendees. It’s a wonderful thing to experience because you get to see live Japanese performances and even see people cosplaying your favorite anime character! To get inside the event you have to buy tickets online or pay upfront on the venue.

1. Cherry Blossom Stroll at Tidal Basin- All time favorite!

It is reported that over 1.5 Million people descend to D. C each year just to see the breathtaking colors of pink and white cherry blossom trees surrounding the Tidal Basin. Most people come here as it is most scenic spot to catch the peak bloom. There are approximately 3, 750 Cherry trees that are planted around this area so everyone is really going to enjoy strolling around and be captivated by the beauty of nature near the very heart of D.C.
