(Eagle News) — In what’s become an almost daily occurrence, another mass shooting has been reported in the United States.
Police say three people were killed after a gunman opened fire at a factory in Smithburg, Maryland.
A fourth person suffered critical injuries.
“The suspect fled the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival,” said Sgt. Carly Hose of the Washington County Sheriff’s office.
She said a Maryland State trooper eventually spotted the suspect’s vehicle.
“Gunshots were exchanged between the suspect and the trooper,” she said. “Both were transported for medical treatment.
Both were wounded and are being treated for injuries.
Hoes says several law enforcement agencies are helping with the investigation.
There’s no indication as to what started the incident.
