WASHINGTON (Eagle News) — The Capital One Arena in downtown Washington D.C. was rocking with the Lakers in town. The seats were filled with an equal mix of red, white and blue and purple and gold as the Washington Wizards hosted the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, March 19, 2022.
For the Laker faithful, they were rewarded with “King” LeBron James putting up 38 points, six assists, and 10 rebounds. But more importantly, James continued to add to his growing list of records by surpassing “The Mailman” Karl Malone and climbing to second in the all-time scoring list behind only Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
The winners of the evening, however, were the Washington Wizards who roared back from a 16-point deficit and dominated the Lakers in the fourth quarter, sealing the victory 127-119.
Kristaps Porzingis struggled in the first half with only six points, but showed D.C. why they traded for “the Unicorn” and finished the game with 27 points.
