(Eagle News) — Alberta Health Services says doctors and staff in some Edmonton are receiving harassing phone calls to their units.

The calls question patient numbers and capacity, AHS said Wednesday on Twitter.

“It is unacceptable for anyone to harass our staff and physicians – it’s never acceptable and it’s unfathomable now,” tweeted AHS.

Conspiracy theorists and anti-vaxxers have long suggested health authorities are inflating COVID-19 numbers.

AHS says in Edmonton, ICU capacity is at 87%. Overall, provincially, it stands at 84%.

According to figures released today, 268 COVID-19 patients are in ICUs in Alberta — most of them unvaccinated.
