(Eagle News) — Good news for Canadian fans immunized with the AstraZeneca vaccine who want to attend the Springsteen On Broadway show in New York City — immunization requirements to attend the concert have been changed.

Fans had been required to be fully vaccinated with an FDA-approved vaccine 14 days prior to the show.

But the FDA has only approved three vaccines — PfizerNBiotech, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.

Many Canadians had received two shots of the AstraZeneca vaccine, but were ineligible to attend the show because the vaccine has not been approved by the FDA.

New York State has since amended its guidelines and will now recognize any vaccine approved by the World health Organization, whether it has been approved for use in the U.S. or not.

With different rules in different parts of the world, designing vaccine passports that meet global standards is complex.

Prime Minister Trudeau has said Canada will have a form of vaccine certification in place by the fall.
