(Eagle News) — The Vancouver’s International Airport has reopened following a shooting Sunday afternoon.

“We can confirm the situation has been contained at YVR. The airport is open and safe,” airport officials posted on Twitter. “Flights are operating. We will release more info as it becomes available.”

The airport is located in the city of Richmond and police closed all access to the community as well as shutting down commuter train access.

Police have released few details although one media outlet quotes sources as saying one person is dead.

The shooting occurred about 3:00 p.m. local time.

The Vancouver region has been plagued with a spate of shooting since the beginning of May.
