Ontario to implement vaccine passport

(Eagle News Service) — Vaccine passports are officially coming to Ontario, Canada. Premier Doug Ford announced Wednesday that vaccine passports will officially be implemented in Ontario starting September 22nd.

Except for children and people with medical conditions, Ontarians will be required to show proof of being vaccinated with two doses, plus 14 days along with a photo ID, when going to public spaces such as restaurants, meeting and event spaces, sports and fitness facilities, sporting events, concerts, theatres, and cinemas.

The new vaccine passport policy does not apply to outdoor spaces, settings where people receive medical care and supplies, and grocery stores.

On October 22nd, Ontario will be launching an enhanced digital vaccine receipt via an app that will feature a personalized QR code, making it easier to show proof of vaccination whenever necessary.

Indoor masking policies are still in place across the province. A doctor’s note will be required for people who have medical exemptions. A fine of at least $750 will be given to individuals who violate this policy.
