MARYLAND (Eagle News) — Hours after the closure of several schools in Maryland, Maryland State Superintendent of Schools Karen Salmon announced this afternoon the closure of all schools in the state from March 16-27, 2020 to curtail the spread of COVID-19, now a global pandemic. This, after Governor Larry Hogan reported to Marylanders the first patient of COVID-19 through community transmission, that is, the patient has no known exposure to the virus, either from an infected individual or from one who traveled to high risk countries. The closure is part of the major steps the state government is set to take to protect public health.
