(Eagle News) — Ten people are dead and at least 15 have been injured following a series of stabbings in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.

The dead and injured were found in 13 different locations, RCMP Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore told a news conference Sunday.

“It is horrific what has happened in our province today,” she said. “There could be more injured.”

The stabbings took place on the James Smith Cree Nation and the village of Weldon in northern Saskatchewan.

Police have launched a dragnet for two suspects described as armed and dangerous.

An alert has been issued for much of western Canada advising people not to approach the men.

“Let me be clear, we are still looking for the two suspects,” said Blackmore. “We are asking residents across Saskatchewan and our neighboring provinces to be vigilant.”

Blackmore says the suspects were sighted in Saskatchewan’s capital of Regina but there have been no sightings since.

Police asked people in Regina to take precautions and be careful about allowing others iinto their home.

They also advised people not to leave a secure place.

There is no indication of the motive.

“Early indications may be that the victims were attacked randomly,” RCMP said on Twitter.
