Japan issues tsunami advisory after 7.3-magnitude quake leaves millions without power

(Eagle News) — A 7.3-magnitude quake shook Japan on Wednesday night, prompting a tsunami advisory for parts of the northeast coast and leaving millions without power.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) , the quake happened at 11:36 p.m. local time and was centered off the coast of the Fukushima region at a depth of 60 kilometres.

Shortly after, the JMA issued an advisory for tsunami waves of one meter for parts of the northeast coast.

The Tokyo Electric Power Company reported that about two million homes lost power due to the earthquake.
