After conducting its relief and medical mission in Leyte, the Iglesia Ni Cristo continued its relief and food aid distribution in the other areas affected by the supertyphoon Yolanda in Cebu, Aklan, Iloilo, Samar and Capiz.

The efforts under the Lingap sa Mamamayan or “Aid to Humanity” project of the INC under the leadership of its Executive Minister Eduardo V. Manalo, were done in cooperation with the Felix Y. Manalo Foundation Inc.

More than 200,000 relief packs were distributed in these areas.  The first relief operation for the Yolanda survivors happened in Ormoc City and in Carigara, Leyte near Tacloban City where some 50,000 relief packs containing rice, sardines and noodles were distributed to the affected residents last Nov. 14 and Nov. 16, respectively.

The next wave of the “Lingap sa Mamamayan” activities for Yolanda survivors was held simultaneously on Nov. 17, Sunday, in Bogo and Bantayan in northern Cebu, in Camotes Island and Danao City in southern Cebu; Kalibo in Aklan; Sara in northern Iloilo; Tabuk in Roxas City, Capiz; and the towns of Hernani, Salcedo and Quinapundan in Eastern Samar.

INC General Auditor minister Glicerio B. Santos Jr., said that they are also preparing for a massive relief distribution under the  Lingap sa Mamamayan in Tacloban City which had the highest number of casualties after “Yolanda” made landfall in Leyte.

The INC houses of worship in these areas became the centers of relief distribution.

Some 12,000 relief packs were each distributed in Bogo, Bantayan, Camotes Island and Danao City, while 20,000 relief packs were also distributed in each of the six areas that was initially targeted in Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, and Eastern Samar

In the launching of the “Kabayan Ko, Kapatid Ko” website last Monday, Nov. 18, ministers also announced the relief aid distribution in the areas affected by Yolanda.
