(Eagle News) — Hurricane Ida battered the Northeast region of the U.S., flooding cities like New York. Record rainfall turned streets into rivers and lakes that submerged cars and damaged homes of New Yorkers.

At least 13 people died in New York City, many of whom were trapped in their basement when floodwaters came.
