Disney’s Jungle Cruise rakes in over $90 million on opening weekend

(Eagle News) — Disney’s “Jungle Cruise” opened this past weekend at the box office and premier access on Disney Plus.  

The movie proved to be a domestic and international box office hit, premiering at number one on this opening weekend.

The movie garnered approximately over $90 million worldwide, the combined total from both platforms, raking in $34.2 million dollars domestically and $27.6 million dollars internationally at the box office and more than $30 million dollars from Disney Plus Premier Access.  

Just in time for summer and a great way to enjoy together as a family either from the comforts of the living room through Disney Plus Premier Access or a nearby movie theater on the big screen, Jungle Cruise will take viewers on a fun-filled and exciting adventure through the Amazon River with our main characters, Dr. Lily Houghton, the fearless researcher and Skipper Frank Wolff at the wheel of his boat named La Quila.  

It is a journey from London, England, through the Amazon into the wild and exotic jungle on La Quila.  Lily is on a quest to find the ancient tree with rare healing properties.  Facing imminent perils and other obstacles, including supernatural ones, the two join forces on this journey to locate the rare tree and uncover its secrets for the future of mankind.  

Movie goers can expect to be entertained, thrilled, and captivated by Disney’s known larger-than-life storytelling.

The Disney film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and stars Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Edgar Ramirez, and Jack Whitehall.
