Classroom fight leads to shooting at Texas high school

(Eagle News) — Gunshots were fired, injuring at least four people, after a fight broke out in a classroom at Timberland High School in Arlington, Texas, Wednesday morning.

Arlington assistant police chief Kevin Kolbye said a suspect, identified as Timothy George Simpkins, had been arrested.

Kolbye said Simpkins, who turned himself in after fleeing the school, would be charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police said a .45 caliber gun had been recovered.

During a press conference, police said out of the four injured, three were taken to the hospital, and one person with minor injuries declined further medical treatment. Two of the injured had suffered gunshot wounds.

Authorities also emphasized that this was not a random act of violence but a result of a fight between two people who knew each other.
