EDMONTON (Eagle News) — The Canada-US border will remain closed to non-essential travel for another month, said Prime Minister Trudeau Saturday.

Canada and the United States have agreed to extend, by another 30 days, the border measures that are currently in place,” said Trudeau at his daily briefing. “This is an important decision and one that will keep people on both sides of the border safe.”

Border restrictions were first put into place March 21.

Trudeau said the agreement is another example of the excellent collaboration between the two countries.

He said the agreement will continue to allow essential goods to cross the border.

Earlier this week, U-S President Donald Trump suggested he wanted to see the border opened soon. At that time, Trudeau said the U-S could not make the decision unilaterally.
