(Eagle News) — Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his family have been moved from their home to a secret location as thousands of protesters rally on Parliament Hill in the nation’s capital of Ottawa.

The report by Canadian broadcaster CBC does not disclose where the Trudeau’s have been taken.

For security reasons, the Prime Minister’s office is not providing details.

Trudeau and his family reside in Rideau Cottage which is about four kilometers from the protest.

He has been in isolation after his son tested positive for COVID-19.

Convoys of transport trucks continue to roll into Ottawa for the protest that is expected to last all weekend, perhaps longer.

The truckers are upset with vaccine mandates.

So far, the demonstration has been peaceful.

“Police resources are in place and will remain until crowds are dispersed. There are no incidents to report,” the Ottawa Police Service said Saturday on Twitter.

Police are telling people to avoid the city’s downtown area.

The protest seems to have attracted a number of groups with extreme, far-right views, which has policed concerned.

“We are planning for a range of potential risks including but not limited to counter demonstrations, blocking of intersections, interfering with critical infrastructures and unlawful and violent activity,” acting deputy police chief Trish Ferguson said earlier this week.

Trudeau also weighed in on the protest last Wednesday.

“What we are hearing from some people associated with this convoy is completely unacceptable,” he said.

Several other police and intelligence agencies are in Ottawa to provide backup for local police forces.
